Reach out and paint a virtual sculpture with your fingers. It’s just like when you painted in preschool, except now it’s in midair. Doodle on the walls, the floor, the air, and on your friends.
Finger Painting is an exploration in engaging the body using mixed reality. Virtual reality hardware is augmented with passthrough video and body tracking technology in order to situate virtual interactions in real space. Addressing the isolation inherent in the technology, Finger Painting bypasses any cumbersome controllers and brings a natural body-centric interface to the joyful act of painting and sharing in VR.
This project was showcased at Digital Futures Open Show 2019.
